'WAS A FRIEND

> i USED TO HAVE A FRIEND...
a good one

with whom....

....I shared an eye to look at the sky and the sunsets

...I enjoyed my childhood memories and dreams

....I stopped the hands of the clock

....I breathe the same misty air of night and at the that of the early morn's fresh air

... I see that the moon and the sun has no difference

... I understand the language of ambiguity
i USED TO BE ONE

but then

I DIED...

Friendship is like the blending of the medium I have used in this piece. You may get the perfect hue but it is on the blending of this chalk that matters to come up with the harmony of the images one would want to project.

What if a mistake in stroking the chalk is made do we put the started sketch on the waste basket and try to start anew one or do we try to do something about it … do we get the eraser or use the fingers to smear the blackened shade to lighten it up… about the shade and the stroke so as to rehabilitate the defect in the ensuing art that we are making?

Likewise in friendship if the balance and harmony of the existence of both and it becomes a suffocating world to breath for two friends… Do we try to forget such bond and find new ones to start with?

Does friendship end? If so when? Is the bond curtailed by the fact of death?
Is the severance necessarily be mutual to put it to an end?

Can one be tired of being a friend? Or do we stick to the saying : once a true friend will always be a friend? Do we stop being a friend because our friend stopped being so towards us?

They say the vision of an artist when drawn or painted in a canvas or a piece … written in black and white or the lyrics rhymed with music is immortalized. So when can be friendship be immortalized?

In a friendship assuming arguendo that it goes into fade …exactly what is it that withers…. Is it the friend …. Is it the memories… or the totality of which?

Can our best friend be our best enemies….? What happens if like an art work the color blending is destroyed by a splat of water …. or the whole piece is burned by fire can you still envision it like an art work…. What happens… to friendship? What happens to the art work?

When do we give up explaining? When do we stop understanding? Do we succumb for its death after all?

Well all was is will be a friend to another….but a few will always be to another…..even after death.

Hi Anto...

wonderful read ...friendship is a wonderful gift and it is truly the "blending" of lives and sharing of dreams that makes it magical....

I lost a good friend...it was for no reason whatsoever...but it did happen and I am sad about it...but it also prooves that friendship is timeless...there are friends that I have known for years and years yet when compared to friends I have only known for a short time...they don't even come close...

Friendship is a two way street and you have to not only speak ...but listen...

Have a wonderful night

Cheers,
Diana

I moved a lot in the 20 years after my wife died but always found new friends where I went, and slowly lost contact with old friends.

Been here ten years now, so my friendships are longer lasting. But I find that I don't have all that much time to be with friends, except through the internet as we exchange emails and such.

I see Rick 5 or 6 times a week but some of them I may only see once a month.

I've always assumed that in general that friendships change, die off, something like that, but that you pick up new friends so there is never any shortage of friends.

I'm the kind of guy that would get up at three in the morning to help someone change a flat tire, or jump start their car, but I'm not sure many of my friends would do that for me.

I just consider them casual friends.

A good friend will bail you out of jail, a great friend will be in jail with you. LOL

hello,
there is something about the art work--a kind of innocence.
i think when one is younger and growing up there is a greater chance of hAVING CLOSER FRIENDS--that is if they or you do not drift.
good friends , one does not have to see all the time--but when you see them it is like there was never any gap.
thanks
take care

I love the comparison and the contrast. If I make a mistake in the blasting of a piece I have to find a way to blend it or ditch the piece and start over.

I have a friend who collects my "mistakes." I went to her house recently and found the beauty in the pieces that she saw when I gave them to her. I did not see it in them then.

I think friendship is like that. It ebbs and flows and if the friendship is strong enough, the mistakes can be blended into something quite beautiful.

Just my thought.

Very insightful. Friendship does extend beyond the bounds of space and time.

Friendship is a blessing that (like so many things) can turn into a curse.

It is also something that I have to work on. There is other work to do first.

you bring up many interesting questions..
some friendships are meant to be finite ..
and some have something .. an acceptance, a kinship beyond liking that enables the friendship to endure.

Wonderful artwork!

I think friendship exist on so many different levels and there millions of possibilities.

Even when friends have moved on, died, perhaps even become enemies always they will leave behind memories of friendship.

Hi PTV

nice poem and nice sketch...got reminded of someone. Friendship works and exists only when its both ways, same terms. Such friendships never end I believe...but...unfortunately it takes a while to realize if its a one-way or a two way friendship...and obviously the former never lasts..long !!!

anyway it was a good poem... -I AM
